    Formula 1 2006

Ferrari have been slow in winter testing… slower than Renault, McLaren, Honda and even Williams. If I remember correctly, they were in the same state in 2004 too. But at the 2004 Australian GP, Ferrari surprised everyone with a big jump in pace… and what at season it turned out to be for Ferrari… one of their best in their long history in F1.
Will they be able to repeat it this year? Well, the first race of the season starts on 12th March at Bahrain.
For all the F1 fans out there, here are some really good F1 resources:

Nice compilation of F1 resources. But do you really think Winter Testing is a nice platform to compare speeds? Also, Ferrari tested at Bahrain while the others did so at Spain. And a light fuelled BMW trying to test their aero packages on a given day might seem faster than a McLaren full of gasoline testing out engine reliability.

Hey, you are absolutely right… can\’t judge teams based on their winter testing pace. I was just thinking out aloud… Ferrari was great in Bahrain… but, they had to change their engines for Sepang. They are off to a decent start, but this is a big blow for them, haveing to start one car from 14th on the grid and the other, dead last. Just goes to show that all\’s not well at Ferrari and their testing didn\’t go according to plan too.

A great read. This theory explains how digit 1 dominates over every other digit. And a lot of other things.

    Steve Jobs in a movie?

If Steve Jobs were to star in a movie, which movie would you chose? Kill Bill? Huh! Well, there is a contest running on the net looking for the best movie poster, starring Steve Jobs.
    Check out this link:
    I personally like the foll.
    Kill Bill (Definitely No. 1)
    The iPodFather
There are a couple of original movie posters too (not the rehashed ones, i.e.), which are very interesting.
    Definitely worth a look.

Formula 1: Alonso goes to McLaren… what next?

You might have read that (BBC F1) Fernando Alonso is moving to McLaren in 2007. All of us who follow F1 know that McLaren has two really good drivers now. Kimi Raikkonen and Jaun Pablo Montoya. Now, one of them has to go out! Which one’s going out is the million dollar question (well, much more than a million, actually 🙂 ). There are rumors that Kimi is going to sign a deal (or, has already signed a deal) with Ferrari for 2007. If that is the case, who is going to go out of Ferrari? Massa has just come in!
IMHO, Ferrari are preparing Massa to be the perfect future "SECOND" driver; complementing whoever their "FIRST" driver is going to be. All this points to Michael Schumacher retiring or changing teams in 2007.
Red Bull has shown interest in Michael Schumacher – there is a very strong possibility that Michael Schumacher is going to join the Red Bull Ferrari team in 2007. If that happens, he will still be driving a Ferrari powered Red Bull designed car! Won’t that be fun to watch? – Schumacher in a Ferrari powered Red Bull against the factory Ferrari team!
But before all this can happen and before 2007 season can start, we have the 2006 F1 season. Will Alonso be able to defend his F1 title? Is Alonso the new Michael Schumacher? Will Michael Schumacher sign off from Ferrari with his 8th F1 title?
All these questions will be answered in about 10 months… WATCH F1!
But, I offer these (controversial) predictions:
    1) Will Alonso be able to defend his F1 title?
No. Don’t think his mind is on it now. He’s thinking too far ahead, according to me. He’s thinking about McLaren. He has lost the 2006 title already, in his mind!
    2) Is Alonso the new Michael Schumacher?
What kind of a question is that?
    3) Will Michael Schumacher sign off from Ferrari with his 8th F1 title?
2006 world championship belongs to Michael Schumacher and Ferrari. No second thoughts on that! I am pretty sure that he is not going to retire from Formula 1, but I think he may relish the challenge of driving for a new team in 2007. After all, he has achieved all he ever wanted to, and more, at Ferrari.

    Test post – using BlogJet…

Testing the Metablog API support on MSN Spaces.

I use email publishing to post entries, as draft, to the blog. I then log on and publish them. But, if this works well, I’ll switch over to this method of posting, which makes it a lot easier to maintain the blog.

    Windows Live: Error messages…

When a program crashes, Linux says: segmentation fault. Windows says: This program has performed an illegal operation. Error code 0x2334223 (or whatever!).
Well, Microsoft at least seems to have learnt a lesson or two: Windows Live error messages are really very precise and understandable 🙂 by NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS!
    Check them out:
Change the error code at the end to generate different error messages. I personally liked this one:
